The softly streamlined structures are laid on the floor, staying in the air, and hanging on the wall. The sculptress, Taesue Kim, does not insist the sculptural works stay on the ground. Considering the locality, the artist strives to set the works on the very right spot. The forms of her works remind of calm wave, wind stream, or the process of life. Some works emphasize the wave and flow of calm lines like a free wind, and the others remind of fruits. Unknowing the destination, our gazes move simultaneously as she guides. Time is a route and a rope to get out of a ceased space. Once we move our feet to the route, we seem to fully inhale clean and cool air outside.

 

Taesue Kim calls her works ‘EcoFlow’. In other words, it can be translated the flow of ecology. The sculptress catches the movement and trace like the titles of her works. As we know, ecology is not be fixed. It changes from time to time as the climate of nature, seasons, and temperature. The sculptress illustrates these things as lines. And sharp forms of curves in her works are moving fast toward somewhere. That is, the leap and scamper are not to stop. As if a very tiny point that can hardly be seen gets larger, her works make their way from a small place to a larger space, from condensation to laxity, and serenity to challenge.

 

She utilizes foamex, steel, and stainless steel planes as the materials of her works. The foamex often used as the letters of indoor signboard fits in her works well due to its softness and high-durability. Utilizing its nature of flexibility, the sculptress makes the most of continuous curves and soft rhythms. This scrupulous sensation of sculpture would not have been possible without her capability of handling materials skillfully.

 

The sculptress cuts the materials accurately with laser, enhances smooth curves, piles them up, and creates a structure. In order to cut them accurately, of course, it is needed to examine a blueprint thoroughly whether there is any problem in each plane through sketching, modeling, and performing 3D computer work in advance. None of them should be the same, and simultaneously it is to be careful to maintain balance and unity.

 

Her works are accompanied with a poetic inspiration. The flow of curves does not only boost up mind with a flexible rhythm, but also the spectrum of lines present light feeling as if we pack our bags and leave for journey. It is told that her works express the scene of sprouting and growing a bud. This statement gives a clue of understanding her works. Her works have a tendency to commonly extend from small forms to larger ones like the structure of a fan. It is just like to express the process of a petty being's growing into mature being.

 

It is not easy to feel consistent emotion of life and growth in the first sprout. It is to be anxious about growing the sprout. The first sprout looks trivial in this world that usually embellishes big things. However, the new sprout provides with the possibility of life and growth. It shows that our sprit also grows fertile like a hill with a full of water, blows a flower, grows to become a flagrant tree.

 

The sculptress does not limit the ecological process within an external growth. Growth accompanies maturity. If growth is materialistic, maturity is spiritual. The modern people liking quantitative measure tend to neglect this invisible parts. However, it does not only influences on individual character, but also implies the integrity of spirit

 

As the first sprout becomes a tree and the leaves grow dense, they are gradually making the surroundings rich in the ‘EcoFlow' as well. (The curves forming faults in many folds begin with a line at a start line, and its width becomes narrow and get wider little by little and spread its waves to the surroundings.) They make a facial expression of joy and pleasure rather than massiveness or self-accusation. The bright rainbow appears in this positiveness. This means to stop getting hung up on ego but show intimacy with others. As life is given as a present, her works represent a stage of maturity to share her own life with community.

 

There is no stubbornness in her works. As mentioned earlier, everything flows smoothly. She finds materials in the network of relationship and gets every material to go through the process of tuning, and finally integrates it into a gigantic order. They don't come up as lifeless materials, but as an organism that has facial express and grow. Vitalizing materials is to be the finest of the works as well as the pride of the sculptress.

 

The sculptress possesses the capability of transferring the materials to the value of formlessness. As time goes by, the size and volume of natural things get larger. On the other hand, the understanding and generosity of human beings become bigger and bigger. The image of nature producing a resonance with our inside accumulates the richness of meaning.
